Nickelback with Christian Lyrics?

December 27th, 2007

I don’t listen to much secular music, most of what I listen to is listed on my new website at www.christianrockreviews.com   However, I was at the gym today and heard some Nickelback playing on the overhead radio that they play there all the time.  I listened to Nickelback on their first release and really liked their music and sound, but I didn’t really follow them since they weren’t a “christian” band.

All I can tell you right now is that this song should have been released by a Christian artist.  Truer lyrics have seldom been sung:

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We’d see the day when nobody died

If those lyrics qualify as “Christian” then, boy, I’ve been missing out. The Christian message is one of redemption from sins through the blood of Christ, not an emo song wishing things could get better.

Did I say that the song contained the message of salvation? No. And I didn’t say that you could be saved by listening to this song.

But I dare you to find something in those quoted lyrics that are anti-biblical. I’ve heard “christian” artists with less-inspiring lyrics.
