Green Lantern Movie

Yep, I went and saw the new movie last night.  It wasn’t opening night, of course, but it was still opening weekend.  And since it was a Sunday afternoon, with 102 degree Texas weather outside, the crowd inside the theater was somewhat large.  But I was able to find a good seat, right in the middle, about 6-8 rows back – just where I like it.

If you’ve read the critic reviews on this movie then you know that they aren’t treating it very nicely.  The Washington Post review seems to be one of the more common ones.  This review deals mostly with the lack of money made by the film during its opening weekend, and says that the public is getting tired of comic book movies are Thor and Xmen: First Class, already released this year.

Well, perhaps… but I still think the reviewers are mostly on crack.  Xmen has had a several year following with 4 movies preceding it.  I am a huge Xmen fan and I believe that First Class was literally a first class movie.  I enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind seeing it again.  Thor was, well, like I expected, really.  A second rate character the in Marvel Universe and a second rate movie.  Now I enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong;  but its Thor.  Big Deal.

Green Lantern was, quite frankly, better than either of them.  It was a new storyline that hollywood hasn’t done before, it was a first rate superhero, and the story was very well done with Ryan Reynolds main character of Hal Jordan showing huge developments and progression throughout the film.  I’m going to go see this one again, and maybe this time in 3D.

I’d recommend this movie to anyone who likes action-packed movies, be it comic book heroes or not.  This is one of my favorites for the summer, for sure.

Update: Its 2011

Hey look at that, my first post for 2011. :D

Yesterday was my birthday and I realized that I hadn’t written anything in my blog yet for 2011.  Don’t ask me what those have to do with each other, it’s just something I thought of, I don’t have any rationalization for it.

I’m still working at RIM, and have recently been given an opportunity in a Development Role position for their Analyst Team.  Basically that means that I am in training to be an Analyst.  The title is somewhat verbose, but without too much explanation it is in essence a Level 3 Technical Support position.

So yes, I fix BlackBerry phones now.  It’s actually quite fun, I am learning alot about the company and new technologies they have.

I’ve said this before, but again.. I do want to start writing in this blog more often, so please check back or put my link on your RSS Reader to see updates when I post them.

I’m Back!

My webhost has restored my database to this blog.  I don’t know what happened to it, but it was pointing to someone else’s blog.  It took over a week and several emails, but it seems to be back up and working now.  So if you saw anything in my RSS feed over the last few weeks that didn’t make any sense, that is because it wasn’t from me :D
