By “shallow” I mean mostly unrooted in politics because frankly it is too tiresome most of the time to pay attention and follow how wrong everyone is. I find it is easier to just ignore it altogether.

Prologue
First off, I have always thought that my curiosity was rather morbid, and if I think it is morbid, others might even say sadistic. So, I am curious how Obama will be as a president. I did not vote for him, let me make that perfectly clear. However, as I have said before, McCain was my last choice of the 4 Republicans who ran in the Primaries. So I will be watching Obama, with as much optimism as I can, over the next 4 years.

Don’t Be a Democrat
Let’s support our president, unlike the Democrats have done for the last 8 years. Let’s not threaten to move out of the country just because we didn’t win our vote. Let’s not blame others for mistakes that our party may or may not have made in their campaign-running choices. I am honestly looking forward to seeing what Obama will do as president, even though it was my last choice for results in this election. But the man does deserve our respect.

Why does it have to be labeled BLACK??
You people that voted for Obama because he is black are freaking idiots. Can you be more shallow? Try looking at the political views and belief values, rather than the color of someone’s skin, which is about the MOST irrelevant thing that a person can do. I had one guy at work tell me it was an inspiration to him and his kids of what a Black Man can accomplish in America. While this may be true, I hope that Obama himself and all his voters do not sell themselves short on WHY he was elected. If the only thing Obama has to offer this country is a president with a different skin color, then we are doomed… even sooner than expected.

Don’t expect too much to change…
Along with being grateful that Obama won simply because he is black, thinking that things are going to drastically change in America is moronic. Bush was in office for 8 years, and Roe v. Wade was never over-turned. It is still legal to kill unborn babies who can’t defend themselves, in this country. Gay marriage is still being voted on, per state, in this country; Bush didn’t change that. Don’t expect Obama to do much in the way of change, not nearly as much as he has promised, because it simply isn’t possible. The ONE thing that I think he will actually be able to do is get the economy in check, though he is almost certainly go about it the wrong way.

Predictions
When you read this, you might say to yourself that I am wrong, and honestly I hope that I am. But here is a prediction:
Obama, like Clinton, will cut the military budget, leaving us more vulnerable to enemy attacks and terrorism. So, in the next 2-4 years, look for another 9/11. Perhaps not as big and not as devastating as 9/11, but look for America to become less defended, less worried about the world around her, and closer to the socialistic countries which we have fought against, traditionally.

We have a message forum for our neighborhood homeowners association, which is usually fairly informative of events going on in the area; but sometimes, like all message boards, heated discussions take place and people get all riled up.

So when I posted a reply to a comment the other day and typed the name “Sara Palin” as part of my response, and when it came back as a CENSORED post, I was a bit concerned. (not because I had something important to say, but more because I really don’t like Nazis)

Then today my wife forwards me the post below before the forum moderator deleted it. I started reading it and thought that the posted was a complete jerk at first, then I found myself agreeing with just about everything he said. After reading it a second time, I decided that I was actually on his side with his statements and furthermore I am even more convinced that the forum moderator on this site doesn’t really have a job and simply spends all his time trying to make this message board his own little Third Reich.

Of course the post was deleted from the message board almost immediately. But… I am going to let it live on here on MY site…well, because I can, that’s why…
(I should note that I do NOT agree with the rant about Palin… but I do think that whoever wants to talk about her should have the free will to do so…)

——Message Below——

Subject: Palin is horrible - and goodbye Glade Crossing
Message:
Don’t ask me why I never took the trouble to figure out how to end the constant emails I receive every day from this website, maybe it’s just been too amusing to me to watch as I see the old ‘hood degrade before my very eye’s after leaving two years ago. I know a lot of people think it is great because you can sell your crappy lawn mower or your worn out set of golf clubs to your unsuspecting neighbors. For them I offer the chance to join the century with the url “craigslist.com”. But, it’s really beginning to get on my nerves the number of times I get absolutely useless and nonsensical gibberish people post on whatever is on their mind. I mean, like the people who were after the snowman killers. Do you really have a life, or what? Or how about the people who had flies in their house “For the past week or two my family has seen at least 2 to 6 flies every day in our home. We kill them with a fly swatter pretty easily.”. Wow, thanks for the tip.

So, in an attempt to finally end the madness and rid my email inbox of the ridiculous trash I receive from this censured website, I thought I would try and piss off the moderator enough so that he removes me from it forever, so I don’t have to go through the trouble of having to figure out how to “unsubscribe” myself. Since I know how much he likes when we post opinion here, especially when he endorses candidates freely here himself, I offer the following, hopefully inflammatory editorial from Roger Hobaugh, to get the ball rolling again. Hasta la Vista, Glade Crossing!

“There may be no better word to describe John [censored]’s vice presidential pick than “ridiculous.”
After months of criticizing Sen. [censored] for his inexperience with foreign policy, [censored] has chosen quite possibly the least experienced woman in politics to serve as his second-in-command. How little experience does [censored] have, you ask? She was a part-time mayor of a tiny Alaska town and then governor of one of the least populous states in the union for less than two years. [censored] has never met with any foreign leaders of any kind—in fact, she only applied for a U.S. passport last year!
In this time of in ternational turmoil, how could [censored], a man who would become the oldest candidate ever elected, select a novice like [censored] knowing she would be one heartbeat away from having to step into the presidency and protect our nation? The mere notion that [censored] is even remotely equipped to manage the ongoing war on terror is an out-and-out fantasy dreamt up by the [censored] party to disguise why they really selected her: to attract female and evangelical voters in a desperate attempt to win the election at any cost—even if it means sacrificing our nation’s security.
[censored] has chosen for his running mate a woman who is so set in the past that she supports abstinence-only education despite its failure among her own children; a woman who claims she is not convinced that global warming is a serious issue. [censored] has time and again supported needless and ecologically destructive drilling in Alaska’s wildlife reserves—drilling that [censored] himself is arden tly opposed to—yet offers no plan for the very real and proven threat of climate change, despite the danger it poses to her home state.
Perhaps the most frightening prospect of putting [censored] in the White House is her continued support of the failing war in Iraq—a war she called “a task that is from God.” Electing Sarah [censored] and John [censored] in November will no doubt prolong this costly and unwinnable conflict, which every day claims the lives of more American troops and sinks our country further into debt.
[censored] is not a bold new choice for America. I have no doubt she will provide the same type of irresponsible and flat-out dangerous leadership we’ve seen from President Bush for the past eight years. That is, if she provides any leadership at all” “

I can’t explain why, but I don’t like football. Well, actually, I don’t like sports. And my dislike is only amplified when everyone, around this time of year, starts talking about it more and more and won’t shut up about the new Fall Season (I missed the memo where Fall now begins in August when it is 100+ degrees in Texas)

Anyway, just a short rant about that. But please people… who is playing this week and who won last night? These are questions you should direct elsewhere… like, I dunno, to someone who CARES about such trivial things. I don’t know who plays next weekend. I don’t know who is ranked where. I don’t know when the Cowboys next play on a Monday night. No, I don’t want to come to your house to watch football when I could be watching my grass grow at home, which is much more exciting. So please, direct your questions elsewhere. Kthxbai.

Last night I was questing out in Blade’s Edge Mountains and this other warrior, who was also Undead, wanted to team up with me so that we could do this quest together. So we grouped and ran over to do this quest, and after killing a few mobs I looked at my damage meter…he was out DPSing me by 75% to 25%. So I talked to him about it and he said that Stance Dance build helps, but he has been playing the game since its release and is just plain better at it than I am (I have been playing less than 4 months at this point)

So I rebuilt my talent tree to match his and am going to try that for a few days. I am Lvl 67 right now, at 92% to Lvl 68. So once I hit 68, the big push will come to run up to 70 ASAP. If I can DPS like he did, or at least better than what I am currently doing, it should go quicker.

His name was Clutch and his Talent Tree is here:

Consider it all joy my brothers, whenever you face trials of any kind because the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

In WoW terms, that means that you are going to pull “Agro” from enemies and demons when you stand strong and walk around in territories where you don’t belong, meaning this world which is not our home.

Today we learned about friends that are facing trials of false witnesses who have made allegations against them and their family. Satan has taken notice of their family and they have pulled Agro from the minions of Hell. Well, congrats T & M. Well done. If you were sitting on the sideline, doing nothing, demons would not take notice of you, they would not attack you because you would not be a threat to them.

Be thankful, take heart and rejoice because these who come against you are insignificant and scared of the one who lives within you, who commands legions of Angel Armies, and who has all power to overcome anything that comes against you. Even in his sleep, He would triumph over them.

Stay strong and remain faithful by putting on the Full Armor of God; His word and prayer, because these are the strongest armor you can wear, and you have an abundance of it.

At work, myself and 2 others have started an unofficial prayer group where we get together and pray every day for both our workplace and our personal prayer requests that we all have. It started about 2 weeks ago and has happened just about every day since. Sometimes work will get in the way and we won’t be able to break away for the 15-20 minutes that we usually need, but 4 out of 5 days, we are able to make it.

Pray for those who have attended this meeting. Since our inception we have had 3 other people join on a semi-regular basis. Pray that God will allow the business to slow down each day around 11am CST so that we can spend time together with Him, with 2 or more gathered in His name. I’ll post more about this in the days to come.

When we joined the new Sunday School class at church a few years ago, shortly afterwards I was invited to a “Business Meeting” with several of the other guys in the class, where we would meet at someone’s house and play poker. That’s cool, I like to play poker and I am happy to play with guys from church who share the same beliefs that I do. So when I get there and we start playing, 2 of the guys light-up some cigars. “I’m in heaven” I thought. Good times.

Since then the game has blossomed into a once-every-6-weeks-or-so type of situation and I have hosted it at my house several times now too. So this past weekend we had a game and I invited a couple of people from work who don’t attend church. One of them has actually started to come to church with me and joined last week. The other guy has only played with us once, but after the last game he says that he is interested in playing again.

I like stories like this where people are willing to break out of their “baptist shell” I grew up in a baptist church, but I am not a baptist, and frankly I can’t stand it when baptist preachers drone on and on about being a baptist. Who cares? We need to get back to the Bible and we need to be accepting to all people and show them the joy that believers have, especially when fellowshipping together. Jesus associated with the lowest of the low in His day, and we should do the same, being friends to ALL people and welcoming them into our homes and into our lives.

USA Today Article
I don’t like talking about politics, it is simply too tiresome. But I read this article today at lunch and I really liked what they were saying. I am now interested in picking up this book that these 2 guys wrote together.

I don’t listen to much secular music, most of what I listen to is listed on my new website at www.christianrockreviews.com However, I was at the gym today and heard some Nickelback playing on the overhead radio that they play there all the time. I listened to Nickelback on their first release and really liked their music and sound, but I didn’t really follow them since they weren’t a “christian” band.

All I can tell you right now is that this song should have been released by a Christian artist. Truer lyrics have seldom been sung:

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We’d see the day when nobody died
